CHILD PSYCHIATRY

Treatment of children, like adults, is grounded in optimizing health first. American children are suffering, just as much as adults, from the current crisis around food in our country. Children have unique nutritional needs as they are rapidly growing in both their brains and bodies. The food they eat is changing the way their brain develop. The Standard American Diet (SAD) is nutrient devoid and calorically dense. It is a challenge to get children to eat healthy in a world where fast food, chips, candy and processed foods are the standard. Our food culture places an enormous burden on parents who want their children to eat a healthy diet. We can work on diet and nutrition with your child. Routine and specialized laboratory testing in children is also available when indicated. Not only can we prescribe medications, but also supplements, herbal medication and lifestyle changes.

With an extensive background in child psychiatry, primarily with developmental disorders and trauma related disorders. Any psychiatrist who works with children with developmental disorders understands that each child is unique and may respond to treatment in completely unpredictable ways. The focus is to use as little medication as necessary and monitor closely for medication side effects.
